SINGAPORE, 1 October 2026 – A fuchsia bias-cut flamenco evening dress by British designer John Galliano, from his runway Fall/Winter 1995 collection, sold for S$46,800 inclusive of buyer’s premium after 50 bids at Hotlotz’s ‘Designer & Luxury Fashion - September’ auction. The price sets a Hotlotz record for fashion.

The dress carried a pre-sale estimate of S$2,000 to S$4,000. The hammer price of S$36,000 was nine times the top of that range.

The gown has a sculpted ruffle of deep pink fabric across the shoulders, a high front slit and a black-trimmed flounce that runs from the thigh to the hem and train.

The dress comes from Galliano’s celebrated Fall/Winter 1995–96 “Dolores” collection, inspired by Mexican screen icon Dolores del Río. The collection is particularly noted for its technically complex bias-cut flamenco dresses, shown on the runway in vivid shades including fuchsia and lavender, and was among Galliano’s final collections before his appointment at Givenchy in July 1995.

Examples from “Dolores” are now held by The Metropolitan Museum of Art, while a rare bias-cut ‘Carnation’ dress from the collection sold for £36,400 at Kerry Taylor Auctions in December 2024.
